splice notes:
Eliot's master DATs had some real bad digi-noise at the beginnging of each set.
In both cases, I used Dave Flaschner's DATs to fix the digi-noise.
Dave's recording of the first set was overloaded, so after the show he got a copy of
Eliot's recording for the first set. Because of this, I was able to splice in a clean copy
of Eliot's source from Dave's DAT, and we've got a complete, clean copy of Eliot's recording for set 1.
For set 2, I used Dave's source to patch in the start of "2001".
Here are the details on that source:
(FOB) AKG 460b/ck61 > custom pre-amp > Teac DA-P20 (@ 48 kHz)
(de-emphasized with WaveLab 5.01b and the Waves Q10 Paragraphic EQ (v5.0) plug-in)
taped by Dave Flaschner and Tom McMinn
and according to Dave:
"up front in the sweet spot, Eliot's stand was right behind ours"
So for set 2, I used Dave's (FOB) AKG source to fix the start of "2001".
Eliot's Schoeps source kicks in at [00:53]
It's a smooth and subtle transition, because both Eliot's and Dave's recording sounds similar.
One might expect this, given that they taped the show from basically the same spot.
The sweet spot indeed.
All editing/splicing was done at 48 kHz.
